Fall Dinner/Barn Dance celebrating Special Strides' 10th anniversary
This event includes dinner, dancing, live and silent auction, music and much more. A major portion of the nights fundraising efforts go to the Steven Werthan Memorial Fund. This year’s dance will be held at Congress Hill Farm in Monroe, New Jersey on October 25, 2008 honoring Carl and Mary Gross. The co-chairs for this event will be Robert & Doreen McDaid and Henry & Susan Bloom.
The Steven Werthan Memorial Fund
The Steven Werthan Memorial Fund was established in 2002. The fund is named in memory of Steven Werthan, a little boy who suffered from a brain and seizure disorder and passed away at the age of seven. Throughout most of his life, Steven attended schools for special needs children where he received speech, occupational and physical therapies. Steven was a very active boy who loved to play outdoors especially at the beach and would have loved and benefited from the therapies provided at Special Strides.
Every year we try to provide financial aid to all of our families who apply for this assistance. A special committee of board members reviews and approves all applications. The amount available depends upon the success of our fundraising efforts through the year and specific donations made directly to the fund. This past year we were able to provide 18 families with aid for the 2007 riding year. We hope to be able to provide more in 2008 including several full scholarships.
Legacies and Bequests
What do you get for someone who has everything? —A donation in their honor to Special Strides Therapeutic Riding Center. It is also a great way to honor the memory of a loved one so that their memory continues to help other people.

Barn Sign Advertisement - For $500 annually your business can have a sign displayed in our riding arena which is visited by all of our students plus the other riding programs on the farm including 10 major horse shows yearly. The following companies already have their signs in our arena and support Special Strides in an ongoing relationship:

Wish List:
Our very special riders are not the only part of our program that benefit from donations. Our horses, barn, and office all need the support of everyone in the community. We have provided a wish list of all basics and essentials that are needed to run the program as efficiently as possible.
